What we do

About 50,000 children could attend basic education supported by DBFC and about 10,000 young persons learned a skill that allowed them to look for a stable job and rising their standard of  life (1991-2013). It has been possible thanks to join efforts with donors, volunteers, associations, other organizations, government, past pupils and many others.
Don Bosco Children Fund

The Don Bosco Children Fund (DBCF) was created in the Cambodian refugee camps by the Salesians in the 1980s as a way to guarantee that children keep going to school, escaping evils such as human trafficking, child abuse, child labor and others. It consists in providing a sponsor for a vulnerable kid. The children are normally with their own families or in centers, mostly not run by DBFC. Social workers follow their cases in a way that the kids keep studying while resolving any possible impediment for their education. Sponsors are invited to support a poor kid with a 25-monthly fee.

Technical School

The Technical Schools of DBFC are intended to provide Cambodian young people from poverty with a technical skill in a way that they can increase their opportunities to have a more honorable job. In this way, young people will increase the standards of life of their own family. Young people apply to the Don Bosco Technical School every year to follow a two years intensive training in different sections. In an interview, the board of the school evaluate the social condition of the candidate. Unfortunately, there is a limit in the number of students the Technical Schools can receive due to the charitable character of Don Bosco.

There are six technical schools for teenagers between 16 and 22 years old, male and female, who have concluded at least 8th grade. The following is the list of technical skills provided by Don Bosco schools in Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, Kep, Battambang and Poipet:

  • Electronic
  • Mechanic
  • Welding
  • Automotive
  • Tailoring
  • Electricity
  • Social Communication
  • Agriculture
  • Information Technology and Language
  • Social Communication (Web Design & Audiovisual)
  • Secretarial and Office Administration
  • Hospitality (Culinary, Housekeeping, Front Office and Food & Beverage)
