(ANS – Hua Hin) – The 6 days of spiritual renewal [7-12 May 2022] with the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, of the Salesian Provincials and Councils of the East Asia – Oceania Region at the Salesian Retreat House, Hua-Hin, have come to a successful close. We can summarize the experience in three words, which are, “Salesian spirituality”, “joy”, and “thanksgiving”.
The spiritual renewal has brought the participants to the roots of the Salesian charism that received light from the General Chapter 28 making them review their vocation, life and mission as a servant of Christ through their duties as provincials and council members. Other relevant topics were also taken and emphasized, like, the Salesian sacrament of presence, evangelization as a priority of the mission today, and the preferential option for the neediest and the poorest young people.
The whole 6 days of the Spiritual Retreat were days of joy at being close with the 10th successor of Don Bosco. This brought much warmth to the participants. The fact of being together like a family and the mutual sharing brought joy and strength in order to continue to fulfil the mission of God.
“Thank you Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, the Rector Major, Fr Joseph Phuoc, the Regional Councillor, for being among us. Thank you, Provincials and Council Members of the EAO Region who joined this spiritual retreat. Thank you, Fr John Bosco Dheparat Pitisant, Provincial of Thailand, and the work team, who prepared all the details needed to make this important event achieve the desired success,” said the Thailand Social Communication Office.
The Spiritual Retreat ended on 12 May 2022 with a grand celebration and dinner, complete with a Thai cultural stage show performed by the students of Hua Hin Vitthayalai School inside the school auditorium which impressed all the confreres.
At the end of the Spiritual Retreat, before returning to Italy, the Rector Major shall visit Salesian works in Thailand on 13-19 May 2022.
