PHNOM PENH — Father Joseph Nguyen Thinh Phuoc is the regional councilor of the Rector Major for the East Asia Oceania Region (EAO) and he paid his first official visit to the Cambodia Salesian Delegation between the 21st and 30th of May 2022. He arrived to Thailand together with the Rector Major days before, when Fr. Angel Fernández Artimi, 10th successor of Don Bosco in the governance of the Salesian Order, celebrated retreats in Hua Hin with all provincials of the EAO Region. On 21st of May and after a short visit to the formation houses in the Philippines, where young confreres from Thailand and Cambodia are doing their studies, he arrived to the Phnom Penh capital.
Fr. Joseph presided the liturgical celebration for the perpetual religious profession of Br. Lawrence Harris Raymond on Monday, 23rd of May at the Mary Helps’ Chapel of Don Bosco Phnom Penh. Then he traveled to Don Bosco Sihanoukville with Fr. Roel Soto, the delegate of the provincial for Cambodia on 24th of May. On 25th he was at Don Bosco Kep and on 26th he traveled to Don Bosco Andong Chen in Battambang and Don Bosco Poipet. He concluded his canonical visit on 30th of May with a meeting with the delegation council in Phnom Penh.
Fr. Joseph brought the message of the Rector Major that was an encouragement to continue the mission of Don Bosco in Cambodia, at the side of the poorest, especially children, youth and their families, providing the best for a holistic development of the Cambodian society.
