The purpose of Don Bosco Foundation is To train orphans and poor youth in
skills they can use to get a job and by their work they can come out of the
circle of poverty and contribute to the
new Cambodia.
Therefore all the activities planned
by the Don Bosco Foundation of Cambodia evolve around training and education.
The technical courses last two years.
The foundation has 6 vocational
centers in school year 2010 - 2011. The students age is between 17-22 years,
they are both male and female.
Besides the technical programs the
Don Bosco Foundation runs assistance programs for children in need.
I. THE DON BOSCO TECHNICAL SCHOOL IN NEW
PHNOM PENH, PHNOM PENH
It has
enrolled the following numbers of students in its technical education programs.
The programs last two years when the students will receive a diploma.

families giving them a vocational skill by assisting the running costs of the
center.

VII. FURTHER EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY
a)
Don Bosco Center- New Phnom Penh, Phnom Penh
-
Runs a youth
center for the children and youth of the surroundings for evenings and on
Sundays and public holidays providing healthy recreation, special classes in
English and a place to do homework. The center has an enrollment of about 400 children and youth.

Hostel for
youngsters of the villages to study high school near Don Bosco School. They are
called Besucco boys. School year 2010 2011 there 37 boys in the Hostel.
b) Don Bosco
Center-Sihanouk Ville
-
Runs a youth
center for the children and youth of the surroundings for evenings and on
Sundays and public holidays providing healthy recreation, special classes like
English. The center has an enrollment of about 150 children and youth.

Brother Sun House
to receive youth groups coming to Sihanouk Ville for seminar or holiday. This
center can receive up to 50 boys and 50 girls.

Center for formation
for young men contemplating to join the Salesians. At present there are 8
candidates.
c)
Don Bosco Center- Poipet
- Runs a recovery home for trafficked children or
children in distress. It gives hospitality
to 23 children (12 girls) in school
year 2010-2011.
- Runs a literacy center to give elementary school for
poor children. It has 164 students (in school year 2010-2011).
d)
Don Bosco Center- Tuek Thla Phnom Penh
This
center runs beside skill- training:
- A kindergarten school with 273 children (163 girls)
- An elementary school with 529 children (292 girls)
- Manages the elementary school at Phum Chreh- New Phnom
Penh with 308 children
(142
girls) and a kindergarten school with 95
children (46 girls)
- Gives board and lodging to 30 destitute children studying elementary grades.
e) Don Bosco Center- Tuol Kork- Phnom
Penh
- This center runs besides skill training: A
kindergarten school with 135
children
(77 girls).
VIII. DON BOSCO
Children Fund of Cambodia (DBCF)
This project assists children (6 - 15
years) who were unable to go to school because of the poverty of the family or
have to drop out of school for the same reason. Once in the program the
children are supported in their further studies according to their ability.
This
school year we will assist 4361 children (boys 2286; girls 2075)
The children receive a monthly assistance
package consisting of goods and cash.
The social workers of DBCF make sure that
the children make progress and remain in school.

SCHOOL OPERATED BY DON BOSCO CHILDREN FUND
1) DBCF
operates an elementary school in Andaung Chenh Battambang for 373 children, mainly children from workers at
the brick factories.
2) It
operates an elementary school for 218 children. Most of the children are from
poor farmer families.
3) It
operates a sewing school in Kep city called the Hatrans School for 12 girls
besides sewing, literacy is taught to the girls so as to upgrade their school
level.
8 girls
are also boarding.
Budget
is US 6,000 and the school is
sponsored by Mr. Gerard Van Hal.

Besides the school also a toilet house for boys and
girls is built.
