The first and last generations of Besucco Boys with their founder, Fr. Leo Ochoa, SDB during the 10th anniversary.

Phnom Penh. The Besucco House of Studies was erected in the year 2007 by St. John Bosco Community under the leadership of the then Rector Fr. Leo Ochoa Sdb. The house was built to offer young people who could not afford education the opportunity to get study. Thus, it was called Besucco House of Studies. Speaking with Fr. Leo, he said

“Besucco House of Studies was built for the poor young people of Cambodia. I wanted an atmosphere where young people could study and come to discover the talents they have. Thus, Besucco House of Studies has since been offering a holistic formation. The house offers both human, religious and intellectual formation.”

The house has also been able to raise vocation for the Diocesan Seminary as well. According to Fr. Leo four boys from the first batch joined the seminary. Presently, we have 3 former Besucco Boys who are in the seminary. On the other hand, the house has produce vocation into the religious life as well. We have Br. Saroung and Br. Dara who are Salesians now. Both of them are currently studying in Thailand.

It was on this backdrop that Fr Leo Ochoa, SDB, during his speech for the 10th Years of Besucco House of Studies, advised the young boys to continue to follow the young saints like St. Dominic Savio and good boys like Michael Magone, Francisco Besucco. He says:

“Please try to follow the footsteps of Don Bosco and if any of you feel CALL to the the religious Salesian life, please respond with a joyful heart. However, what it is important is the call to youthful holiness. So be happy and Be Holy. God bless you.
