Princess Norodom Arunrasmy opens Bicentenary celebrations
Princess Norodom Arunrasmy of Cambodia opened at Don Bosco Phnom Penh the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Saint John Bosco. The Princess presided the ceremony before a group of 1,000 students, past pupils, teachers and other personalities in what is called the Don Bosco Bicentenary. 2015 marks the birth of Don Bosco, a Catholic priest of the 19th century that dedicated his life to promote the lives of unprivileged youth, first in his native Italian northern region, then his works extended to the five continents throughout the 20th century after he founded the Salesian Family, a group of religious and lay people dedicated to education and care of children and youth from poverty. In Cambodia the Salesians of Don Bosco arrived in 1991.
